TRAVEL DAY

As a family we decided we’d go to Walt Disney World for a big family holiday. And by family I mean mum dad and two adult kids (30 and 27 at the time)

We purposely wanted to go to cover both the Halloween and Christmas celebrations. I had been previously just for Halloween but we decided Christmas was a must do! We flew out 27th October for 16 days staying on property. Being from the UK we have an excellent deal which includes the Disney Dining Plan (we upgraded to get the mid range plan with 1 table service, 1 quick service and 3 snacks per person per night) and we got the memory maker included as well

We flew with Virgin from Manchester Airport on a lunchtime flight. We had booked premium economy flights, which gave us priority boarding, more legroom and my personal favourite – two cases per person to check in!

Virgin Airlines

The flight for us is around 9 hours, so plenty of time to sit and watch some movies. We had a full main meal then an afternoon tea towards our tea time and we landed in Orlando International around 5.30pm USA time. From here we hopped on the Magical Express to our hotel

We stayed at the Port Orleans French Quarter on property. We chose this as it is one of the smallest hotels which for us meant fewer crowds around the hotel and for the park buses too

Hotel entrance

Once we checked in and got our magic bands we headed to our rooms and then to explore the hotel a little bit. We also wanted to check out the shop and pick up our refillable mugs!

The hotel itself is gorgeous! Full of a New Orleans vibe, there’s a jazz bar, a full food court, shop, pool and pool bar and even a games arcade!

Around the hotel

The rooms themselves were lovely, we had a double bed each, plenty of space to unpack and store cases, twin skins in the bathroom area and a huge TV which naturally goes straight onto the Disney parks channel. You also get a fridge which is great to store extra drinks and snack and (top tip!) Aftersun!!

I have stayed here twice now and would happily return! I’ve had a fabulous experience each time and found the hotel is gorgeous for a mid tier hotel.

Main building

I’m planning to keep this series to a weekly post so as not to bog you all down, so join me every Saturday for the next stop in my trip report for 2019!
